Barry Schwartz has a great article over at SearchEngineLand that goes through how Google may be mistaking old stories as new. This of course caused great concern when a third-party analyst for Bloomberg put up an old story about United Airlines filing for bankruptcy which was flagged as current!
Schwartz pulls up a story from Google news which shows as a new story:
It seems that Google grabbed that date from the top of the page where the current date is displayed, not a crazy thing to do, but in this case – wrong.
This is something I guess all news outlets need to think about going forward.
